Highway business dominates county commissioner meeting

Steve McCance and Garry Wetzler distributed a sample tally sheet for hand counting election results as well as a cost estimate for Gregory County during the public input portion of the regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1. The two men had a list of questions for the commissioners and asked to be on the agenda at the next meeting to get some answers. McCance also read Robert Tate’s letter to the editor in the Gregory Times-Advocate, explaining what he saw at the Tripp County hand count.

New tent is bigger, bolder, better

Due to the hard work of Gregory High School Sophomore Ryler Stevicks and Sky Stukel, the Gorilla track team now has a new team tent. The new 10’x15’ tent is bigger than the old 8’x12’ tent, which also had a broken support.

Park Performance Center is venue for MS/HS spring instrumental concert

After many years of trying and having to change plans, the Gregory 6th-12th grades were finally able to hold their spring instrumental concert at the Park Performance the “Star Spangled Banner,” followed by performances by the sixth grade band, the high school jazz band, the junior high band, and the high school concert band.

Anderson to deliver keynote address at GHS commencement

The Gregory High School class of 2024 has chosen Gregory School District Superintendent Sara Anderson as their commencement speaker. Anderson, a Gregory native and member of the GHS class of 1995, graduated magna cum laude from Northern State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Science in elementary education.

When God created mothers

Gregory High School graduation is the day before Mother’s Day. And while this column from Erma Bombeck is for all mothers, it especially hits home for those mothers whose eyes might leak a little as they watch their sons and daughters graduate and move on to the next phase of their lives, away from their childhood homes. Mothers, have faith that God very carefully created you to perform the job of nourishing the lives to whom He entrusted you and whom you have prepared to handle whatever their future holds.

2024-25 Gregory City Council sworn in at regular meeting

The 2023-24 Gregory City Council finished up a few items of old business before adjourning to swear in the 2024-25 council. Discussion on the city lots at 509 and 511 Main Street was tabled pending a meeting with the new council.
