REA scam alert

On Monday, April 7, 2025, Rosebud Electric was made aware of a scam where an individual claiming to be from a local bank is asking for customers to deliver money to a separate location so as not to have their electricity disconnected immediately.

SD Brand Board reminds brand owners of renewal deadline

The South Dakota Brand Board reminds brand owners the deadline for brand renewals is Thursday, May 1, 2025. Brand registrations must be renewed every five years during years that end in zero or five. Renewals may be completed online at brands.sd.gov or by mailing payment to the Brand Office.

Gregory County FFA brings home honors from State

Gregory County FFA competed at the state convention in Brookings over the weekend of April 4-6. The chapter received a National Chapter Award, placing 9th overall with a 10th place in growing leaders, 6th in building communities, and 8th in strengthening ag.

Discussing to what extent 2025 might bring of extreme dry conditions has extended beyond just coffee shop talk. We have been holding meetings in area communities to discuss what is coming. Today, we have more tools which show us the departure from normal grass growth, than ever before. Tools which look at historical weather also using information from local or area weather stations.

Pittsburgh Steelers visit Dallas for “Steelers in the Field” hunt

Three Pittsburgh Steelers football players were in Dallas on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, for a new Team Buche Cares fundraiser called Steelers in the Field. The event featured South Dakota native Mason McCormick and two of his Steelers teammates, Zachary Frazier and Ryan McCollum, in a one-day guided pheasant hunt at Cock Block Lodge in Dallas, SD, where they joined other hunters to raise money to fund meals for those in need in tribal and rural communities.
