Law Enforcement Torch Run to come through Gregory

Gregory will be the location for a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, as they pass through southern South Dakota. Law enforcement officers are considered the “Guardians of the Flame” as they carry the “Flame of Hope” into Special Olympics opening ceremonies at local, state, national, and world games.

Timanus selected as keynote speaker for 8th grade graduation

Danielle Timanus will be the keynote speaker as 31 Gregory students graduate from eighth grade at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Gregory Memorial Auditorium. Dani is the daughter of Tony and Karen Timanus and sister to Sam, Kodi, George, and AJ.

American Legion Ride 605 coming to Gregory

American Legion Post #6 in Gregory received their charter for the South Central American Legion Chapter 6 Riders, and they are ready for their first Ride 605. The American Legion Ride 605 is an annual four-day South Dakota motorcycle fundraiser for the American Legion Foundation, supporting veterans and youth programs.

Otto Reber to address kindergarten graduates

Otto Reber will address the kindergarten class at their graduation ceremony at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 12. Reber is the son of Nick and Britany Reber, the oldest of their five children: Mayme, Odin, Maren, and Olim.

City council and construction company question liability for damages

Ripley’s Construction, the company laying the groundwork for GoldenWest Telecommunications’ fiberoptic line upgrade, has encountered some issues of damaging unlocated city infrastructure where the exact location or accurate depth are difficult to determine.

The first inaugural Gregory County Burger Battle has come to an end and Cahoy’s Kitchen has been named the winner. For the first Burger Battle, the Gregory & Dallas Chamber made the decision to open up the event, not just to Gregory restaurants, but all of Gregory County.

Cuatro Crown High School Rodeo season opener this Friday and Saturday in Burke

The rodeo season opener will be this Friday and Saturday in Burke as we welcome High School Rodeo Contestants from across South Dakota to the Cuatro Crown High School Rodeo Series. Rodeo action will get underway in Burke with the cowgirls and cowboys Cattle Cutting Friday at 5:00 p.m. Next up will be 2 rounds of rodeo in Burke on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. Contestants will then travel on to Geddes, South Dakota for 2 rounds of rodeo (Geddes and Wagner) on Sunday. Four rodeos thus the Cuatro Crown series provides a great opportunity for contestants to practice up for Regional and State High School Rodeo Competition. Mother nature has been notorious for giving our youth practice at competing in a variety of weather conditions as well....we have had snow, sleet, rain, and dust.
