Hot dry weather makes for early harvest in south central South Dakota

Harvest is right around the corner for many people, and some have already begun. Word was that many farmers are going to try and get into their bean fields Monday, Sept. 18. If we compare this year’s harvest to a typical year, we are ahead of schedule. This is caused by the lack of rain and the high heat we got in the last half of August. As harvest is starting up I want to wish everyone a safe and happy harvest!

The Gregory County Board of Commissioners held their regular meeting at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Gregory County Courthouse. Travel approved Travel requests were approved for Julie Bartling and LaNeal Schonebaum to attend the auditor’s election conference October 18-19 in Pierre and for Shelby Jones to travel with the county health nurse to attend the WIC staff meeting October 19 in Mitchell.
