Opinion

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear editor, We are so lucky that we live in a place where we can voice our opinions. There were two different opinions expressed in last week’s paper about machine counting ballots versus hand counting ballots. My opinion is “Be informed “and “Be smart”. Have a question, then call and get the answer from the Sec. of State or your County Auditor. These are the people that are in charge of the election. It is your responsibility and your right to ask questions. Don’t listen to gossip, street talk or out-of-towners. Only listen to the facts. Please vote on June 4th. A voter in Gregory Co. Sue Chytka

Correction from the Doug Johnson letter to the editor last week, Where it says “As a result of all these trainings nationwide, it has been estimated that a table of 4 people in 1 hour can count 250 ballots, with 1 race per ballot.” It should have said, “As a result of all these trainings nationwide, it has been estimated that a table of 4 people in 1 hour can count 250 ballots, with 11 races per ballot.”

N Combatting the Cartel Crisis: at home and at the border “The State of South Dakota lacks criminal jurisdiction over Indian Country crimes; thus, in reality, the sole provider of law enforcement services to the Oglala Sioux Tribe is the federal government. We believe this federal neglect has resulted in the cartel moving on to our reservation, an increase in overdoses, and a proliferation of guns on our school properties.” Those comments were made by the President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, Frank Star Comes Out.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear editor, On June 4, our county will vote on eliminating the use of a tabulation machine to count ballots for elections. Before doing so, I would ask all voters to consider a few questions: 1. Why would we want to eliminate the use of Federally Mandated tabulation machines? There is absolutely NO PROOF of these machines ever being inaccurate in our state or our nation. They are NOT connected to the internet so there is NO WAY they can be manipulated that way. Opponents continue to assert they can be hacked but offer NO PROOF that they can be or that it has ever happened.
