CORRECTION:

Last week’s edition of the Gregory Times-Advocate had a story about development in Gregory. It showed a photo of a sign for Star Lake Outfitters and indicated that they owned the lot where the sign was posted. They do not own the lot. The sign is an advertisement for the business and will soon include an arrow pointing to it. The lot is actually owned by an entity called Queeniage A1 LLC.

Deer camp available for first-time youth deer hunters

Four first-time deer hunters will have the opportunity to participate in a managed youth deer hunt and camp on Dec. 8-10 at Brown’s Lodge and Hunting Ranch in Gettysburg, S.D.

Two face federal charges for alleged sex trafficking in Winner

A man and a woman have been charged by a federal grand jury for the alleged sex trafficking of a minor and production of child pornography in Winner. Richard Alan Kucera, 65, and Ivy Rose Heron, 36, were both indicted on August 1 by a United States district court grand jury for alleged crimes occurring between July 1, 2020, and July 31, 2021.

A Note From Cottonwood Corners

Over the years, there were numerous posts and forts established at or near the mouth of the Bad River on the Missouri. As early as 1832, “Fort Pierre Choteau” was established about three miles above the mouth of the Bad River and about 300 feet back from the Missouri. There, a stockade was erected.

Dixon Town Hall Needs Your Help!!

The Dixon Townhall has gone through a major upgrade. This was a much needed upgrade on the outside of the building, replacing windows and siding, and adding insulation. Some work has been done on the inside with trim and a new air conditioner.

School on South Dakota reservation renamed in Lakota language

A parochial school on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota that has been around for 135 years is being renamed in the Lakota language. Red Cloud Indian School will be renamed Mah˘píya Lúta - a translation of Chief Red Cloud’s name, South Dakota Public Broadcasting reported Tuesday.
