The best gift ever

I had a couple of free hours last Saturday and decided to run some errands and try to find a few lastminute Christmas gifts for my family. Walking into a local small business, I immediately spotted a tiny baby outfit that said, “Best Gift Ever!” written across the front. I was so sad to see that they did not have a six-month-old size, as that would have been perfect for my brand-new little granddaughter Adeline West Peters, who I call “Miss Addie.”

The earliest schools in Dakota Territory were small - whatever the earliest settlers could afford. The first students were taught by their parents at home. South Dakota is one of the most misunderstood states in the United States. A large part of this misunderstanding comes from the American people’s lack of geographic knowledge. However, one must not blame a lack of geographic knowledge just on outsiders. There is even a lack of knowledge about South Dakota among the people living within the state and neighboring states.

Caught in a Self-Inflicted Energy Crisis

The United States faces a federal government-created energy crisis, and South Dakota is caught in the middle of it. Gas prices continue to rise, driving up the cost of shipping and making it more expensive to visit loved ones over the holidays. As we enter the winter season, Americans are outraged by the rising cost to heat their homes.
