Gorillas open season with a loss against the Wall Eagles, 19-6

The Gregory Gorillas football team traveled to Wall for the season opener on Friday, August 20, losing to the Eagles 19-6. The young team had a promising start, scoring first in the game when Rylan Peck crossed into the endzone on a 17-yard plunge.

South Dakota Ag Foundation now accepting grant applications

The South Dakota Ag Foundation (SDAF) is accepting applications for the Ag Innovators (AI) grant and the Building Rural Communities (BRC) grant. The SDAF Ag Innovators grant is available to applicants who wish to address the need of today’s changing ag education and complex challenges that require new thinking and approaches.

Gorilla football team to start season with new head coach

After nine years as an assistant coach for the Gregory Gorillas football team, Mike Murray has stepped into the head coach position. Murray had plenty of time to study under two very successful coaches, Brian Allmendinger, who coached the Gorillas to state championships in 2014, 2016, and 2017, and John King, who took the team as far as the semi-final game in the state tournament in 2019.

Gregory Teeners can’t quite erase 5-run deficit in loss to Tyndall Teeners

The Gregory Teeners’ effort to come back from down five runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 7-5 to Tyndall Teeners in the championship game of the 16B Region Tournament on Tuesday, July 27, in their third game of the Teeners Regional tournament.

Early lead for Tyndall Teeners seals fate for Gregory Teeners

The Gregory Teeners watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to the Tyndall Teeners in the 16B Region baseball tournament in Platte on Monday, July 26. Tyndall scored on a groundout by Logan Winckler in the first inning, a stolen base by Wesley Kaul in the second inning, a stolen base by Caden Hines in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly by Winckler in the second inning.
