Some lessons are learned outside the classroom

Gregory School District teacher Mark Braun has been spotted recently leading students in various service projects around the community. Each year Braun chooses projects for the different classes with a few goals in mind. First, he believes it is important for the students to show gratitude to a community that is very generous to the school. Secondly, he hopes to nurture a spirit of charity and a willingness to volunteer, and third, he wants to offer assistance to people who might really need it.

This year he wanted to help the Sunshine Club in particular. “They do an outstanding job of helping our town look amazing,” he explained. “People forget that all of that time raising money, planting, and caring for the plants is volunteer work.”
