The Niobrara National Scenic River recognized on U.S. Postage Stamp

The set of stamps say “Forever” on them, as their denomination, but the hope with all wild and scenic rivers is that they stay that way forever. Postmaster Arlene Paulson wanted to commemorate the special edition stamps along with the people who help to keep the Niobrara River in the condition that it’s in. “The Postal Service has chosen 12 of the best wild and scenic rivers in 41 states and Puerto Rico and the Niobrara National Scenic River was one of the top 12. Being that the Niobrara is part of Valentine, it is important to recognize those who help maintain such a beautiful river. I wanted to recognize the entities who play a part in maintaining, keeping it safe, clean; and it’s much more involved than that. It’s the people who have land down there, and those who utilize the river.”

She presented Nebraska Park Service Steve Thede, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Steve Hicks with a framed set of stamps that will be shared among their respective offices.
