Avera McKennan gifts twelve acres to city

At the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council on Monday, March 3, 2025, Mayor Al Cerny informed the council that Avera McKennan has offered to gift to the city the land (12 acres) where the former hospital and nursing home were located. The gift comes with a covenant that the land be used by the city to build an aquatic recreational center. The city has a deadline of five years to make progress toward this goal. City Attorney Rachelle Norberg reviewed the contract and recommended the words “the city” be removed from the covenant restrictions. Once accepted, if the city does not move forward with an aquatic center, they can simply give the land back to Avera McKennan without any penalty.

Lively discourse, different opinions animate Cracker Barrel

A very engaged crowd of about 50 people showed up for the legislative Cracker Barrel held at the Community Room of the Gregory Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Jury selection begins in Dakota Access Pipeline vs. Greenpeace

A behemoth defamation lawsuit brought by the developer of the Dakota Access Pipeline against Greenpeace began its trial in a North Dakota courtroom on Monday. Energy Transfer, a Texas-based oil and gas company, accuses Greenpeace of using underhanded means to back demonstrations against the pipeline in 2016 and 2017.
