Legacy lives on through annual fund-raiser

Former Gregory School District Principal Mike Dacy was known for his willingness to help others in the area, and his son Tim, along with his friends and many Gregory community members have honored that legacy by holding a fund-raiser each year.

Four Storm wrestlers head to state wrestling tournament

The Region 3B wrestling tournament was held Saturday, February 17, in Parkston, and three members of the boys team qualified for state, while the team finished ninth overall. Daytona Paris will represent the girls team, having qualified as the #16 wrestler in the state at 132 pounds.

Doane University announces fall 2023 Dean’s List

Elenna Koenig, a sophomore, of Fairfax, SD, was among the students who were named to the Fall 2023 Dean’s List at Doane University. To make the Dean’s List, undergraduate students enrolled on the university’s Crete campus must earn a grade point average of 3.70 or higher in at least 12 graded credits during the semester.

Annual notification to foreign buyers

The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) requires all foreign owners of U.S. agricultural land to report their holdings to the Secretary of Agriculture. Foreign persons who have purchased or sold agricultural land in the county are required to report the transaction to Farm Service Agency within 90 days of the closing. Failure to submit the AFIDA form could result in civil penalties of up to 25 percent of the fair market value of the property. County government offices, realtors, attorneys and others involved in real estate transactions are reminded to notify foreign investors of these reporting requirements.
