The Purple Hulls are returning to Prairie View Gospel Barn

The popular bluegrass duo, The Purple Hulls, are making a return appearance at Prairie View Gospel Barn for a Veterans Day celebration of bluegrass and patriotic songs on Saturday, November 11. Born and raised on a working family farm in deep East Texas, identical red-headed twins Katy Lou and Penny Lea Clark learned the value of hard work and the goodness of country life, and were blessed to grow up in an environment that cultivated their Godgiven aptitude for music.

Pleasant View residents want to know when their streets will be fixed

Several residents from the Pleasant View Addition were in attendance at the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council meeting on Monday evening to express concern about their streets. They claim they have been told that they are part of Phase I of the infrastructure project but haven’t heard anything about whether that is actually going to happen.

Doug Lindquist recalls his tour in Vietnam

Producers in South Dakota encouraged to apply now for conservation programs

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is encouraging agricultural producers and forest landowners in South Dakota to participate in voluntary conservation programs and adopt climatesmart practices in fiscal year (FY) 2024 as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) and Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP), which help a wide variety of producers, including urban and organic producers.

Road surfacing project set for Burke Lake Recreation Area

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) is set to complete a road surfacing project at Burke Lake Recreation Area. The project is slated to begin November 6th The existing hard surface is in poor condition, and this project will include adding aggregate material, grinding the existing hard surface, and grading the final road surface and camping pads to a complete aggregate surface. This will improve the safety and experience for visitors to the park.
