The Prairie View Gospel Barn in Gregory is pleased to host The Browns at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, September 24. It’s truly a family affair when The Browns hit the stage with their music.

As the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was called to order at 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2023, Julie Yager and Wilma Robertson were on hand to discuss the future of the property at 524 E. 6th Street.

Butterflies released in suicide prevention program

Southern Plains Behavioral Health Services held a butterfly release event at the Park Performance Center Wednesday evening, September 13, in recognition of suicide awareness and prevention month. The program featured a man who survived a suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, a letter from Jenny (Pochop) Ehnes, who lost both a brother and her father to suicide, and a testimony by Vickie Weese, who survived a suicide attempt.

School’s new construction and remodel projects all but done

It’s all Greek Caitlin Kurtz, English I, English IV, and ninth grade literature teacher, invited the Gregory School District Board of Education to her classroom as the regular meeting of the board began on Tuesday, September 12. Once in the classroom, two students — Heydan Westfall and Jonathan Fiala — and Miss Kurtz showed the board a power point presentation about the students’ trip to Greece.

Allum receives championship ring after 65 years

Kade and Luke Stukel weren’t trying to start anything when they showed their 2022 football championship rings to Dewey Allum, but they did ignite a spark of envy in the man. Allum was a player on Gregory’s 1958 11A state football championship team.

September is Suicide Awareness Month

Seeing the word “suicide” in the title may have made you a little hesitant about reading or maybe, it drew you in, wondering where it was going. The word has such a strong, jerk reaction, but I’m hoping to share some perspective if you yourself need some help or if someone around you may be struggling.
