Crops recover after much-needed rain

The corn and beans came out of the damage caused by the hail and high winds two weeks ago. The corn was bent over and the leaves were broken, but now it is looking phenomenal.

Winner Community to host 54th Annual Rodeo to Benefit Children’s Services at LifeScape

The Winner Elks Rodeo will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 21-23. Bareback riding, saddle bronc, tie-down roping, barrel racing, ranch bronc riding, and of course— bull riding! Not only that, but the Winner Elks Rodeo has bull soccer each night, Friday, July 21st, through Sunday, July 23rd, at their 54th annual fundraiser for LifeScape Children’s Outreach Services.

Dallas Cares awards annual scholarship

Dallas Cares announced the winner of its annual scholarship. Senior students submitted one-page essays on the value of volunteering. Three boys and seven girls submitted applications. It was inspirational to read all of the essays and learn how our local seniors volunteer.

South Dakota State announces spring 2023 graduation list

The following students graduated after the spring 2023 semester at South Dakota State University. More than 1,400 students completed all requirements for a degree and/or certificate program, and those requirements have been verified by the appropriate colleges.

Dakota Resources, a Community Development Financial Institution serving rural communities across South Dakota, hosted a Thriverr Network Gathering in Gregory County on July 11 and 12. The event brought together 25 community leaders from across South Dakota to learn more about how they might use community engagement practices to build thriving regions.

New school board, same as the old, begins new year

The last meeting of the 2022-23 Gregory School District Board of Education was called to order at 5:30 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2023, in the high school conference room. Weight-lifting class to be offered this year Principal Jeff Determan has been working on schedules.
