VanDerWerff awarded scholarship for organizing a blood drive for LifeServe Blood Center

LifeServe Blood Center announced that Jessy VanDerWerff of Gregory, SD, has been awarded a scholarship for organizing a successful blood drive in Gregory on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. To be eligible for the scholarship award, Jessy recruited donors and served as the chairperson for the blood drive. She was able to register 42 donors with 15 first-time donors. Individual scholarships are offered to any student seeking or currently achieving a higher level of education.

Gregory County 4-H has another busy week of workshops

Gregory County 4-H hosted the 2023 Pre-Fair Day at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the Burke Civic Center. At this event, 4-Hers were able to model outfits (either new, sewn, or thrifted) and interviewed with the judges to explain why they picked their outfits and to discuss materials, textures, and colors. The event began with a fashion revue featuring the participants modeling their outfits, and then moved into clothing judging. Jack Schulte started off the clothing judging, followed by Addie Dostal, Heather Dostal, Jhett Schulte, Sarah Dostal, Mya Koenig, and then two cloverbuds - Zoe Koenig and Owen Schulte. After interviewing with the judges, Mya Koenig and Zoe Koenig presented their constructed outfits. The awards and ribbons each participant received are listed below.
