MidAmerican Energy Company and Missouri River Energy Services will host two community meetings this week in Platte. Both meetings will be held on Thursday, April 27, one from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and the other from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Platte Community Building.

Everyone has their thoughts and interpretations when it comes to sharing the gospel, but there’s not a more terrifying word among the average Christian than evangelism. Just ask a believer when they last verbally shared the love of Jesus with an unbeliever, and the answer will probably be a moment of silence. Evangelical Christianity is widely known, but maybe we should briefly explain what it means. This sect believes the world is separated into two groups: those who are lost and those who are saved. They believe that Christ died and was resurrected so that all who believe can be spiritually born again and dedicate their lives to following Him. This is summed up in John 3:16. They also have the highest regard for and obedience to the Bible as the ultimate standard and authority.

Avera announced on Monday, April 17, 2023, that President and CEO Bob Sutton has made the difficult decision to step down due to a recently diagnosed serious medical condition that requires an intensive treatment regimen. Sutton’s last day at Avera will be September 30.
