Southeast Technical College Awards 172 Full-Ride Build Dakota Scholarships

Southeast Technical College has awarded 172 full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships to incoming students. The competitive scholarship is in its 11th year, and the program has set recipient records for four consecutive years. All of this year’s scholars have an industry sponsor that financially supports the scholarship.

SDSU Extension hosting hands-on soil health workshop at Iona ranch

South Dakota State University Extension is hosting an educational soil health workshop for women and couples involved in agriculture on June 20, 2025, at the Sweetheart Ranch near Iona. This hands-on workshop is a collaboration with the Svoboda family of Sweetheart Ranch and The Resilient Ranch Coach, operated by Sarah Svoboda, and will focus on the relationship between soil health, grazing management and cattle production.

After spring planting is complete, agricultural producers in South Dakota should make an appointment with their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) county office to complete crop acreage reports before the applicable deadline.

What concealed carry on campus means for SD schools

The boards that oversee South Dakota’s 10 public colleges are drafting policies in accordance with a new state law that will allow students to carry concealed weapons on campus. Starting July 1, 2025 the fouryear and technical institutions will no longer be able to restrict the lawful concealed carry of firearms and weapons on campuses.

Gregory Community Blood Drive supports patients with lifesaving donations

Gregory community members stepped up in a big way this June, turning compassion into action at the most recent Gregory Community Blood Drive. Thanks to their generosity, 31 units of blood were collected from 24 donors – enough to support up to 93 patients in local hospitals, many of whom are cancer patients in urgent need of blood during treatment.

76th Annual Czech Days to be held in Tabor

Merriam’s Midway Shows carnival on the midway and the Craft Fair in the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home kick off the 76th Annual Czech Days celebration on Thursday, June 19, 2025. The Tabor Bluebirds baseball game with Lesterville will be at 7:30 p.m. in Leonard Cimpl Park followed by the Rich Schild Memorial fireworks display will conclude the first day of the Czech Days celebration.
