He was involved in football, basketball, track, golf, and baseball. Following high school, he attended college in Kansas on a baseball scholarship. He loved many things in life: hunting, fishing, sports, but, most of all, baseball. He coached his children and many others. He reffed, umpired, and announced Gorilla Live, along with Wade Juracek—they were quite entertaining.
Brett worked various jobs in high school, including the Burke Sale Barn and Franks Cement Plant. He also spent many hours at the Hillcrest, his family’s business. He farmed and then later managed the warehouse for Karls TV and also owned the Parkside Motel and Oliver Services. Recently he began driving bus for the Gregory School District, which he really enjoyed.
On November 25, 1994, he married his lifelong partner, Tammy Stevicks. To this union seven children were born: Rhett, Rhadd, Ridge, Rhoss, Ravyn, Ranya, and Reeve. He loved his family and they were the most important thing in his life. He also had several poets that he loved dearly.
Brett also had a long battle with cancer, which he fought bravely in order to be with his family.
