Funeral services for Donna Howland were held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial was in the Winner City Cemetery in Winner, SD. Mason Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Donna Lee Faubion Howland was born on May 30, 1950 in Winner, SD to Richard (Dick) and Dorothy (Stoltenberg) Faubion. Growing up in the Millboro area, Donna cherished countless memories with her parents and her brother, Rick Faubion. Donna was a graduate of the Winner High School class of 1968. Donna balanced her education with a full-time job while attending Sinte Gleska. In 1981 she met Dennis Howland and they were married on October 23, 1982.
Through her life Donna held a variety of positions that reflected her commitment to her community, from working at the Westside Café and O’Malley’s Steakhouse to serving the register of deeds office in Winner to her many years at IMA and later the school lunch program. Later she joined H&P Applications and alongside Denny, they established Howland Custom Application.
Donna was a supporter of local events, rarely missing a Winner High School ballgame or city council meeting. She served as secretary for the Winner Playhouse and enjoyed attending all the concerts at the Gospel Barn in Gregory. As a member of the Winner Country Club, she and Denny participated in numerous tournaments embodying their love for golf and camaraderie. Donna had a passion for spending time in her kitchen making her family famous caramel rolls, beef-n-noodles, frog eye salad and a variety of different delicious cookies, just to name a few.
Donna cherished her friendships, especially her coffee and birthday groups and held her cousins close to her heart.
Donna Howland, age 74 of Winner, SD passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Winner Regional Long-Term Care Facility.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Denny; brother Rick; as well as her mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Donna is survived by her sister-in-law Diane Faubion of Rapid City, SD; nephews Brady Faubion of Rapid City, SD, Chris (Jordan) Faubion of Rapid City, SD; nieces Heather (Lane) Massingale of Rapid City, SD, Lindsay (Anthony) Hudelson of Rapid City, SD; and many great-nephew and great-nieces, cousins; and special friends Connie Halverson and Jamie Konshak; and many other friends.
