Funeral services for Gwendolynn Gall were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Fremont Alliance Church in Fremont, NE. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery. Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, NE, was in charge of arrangements. Gwendolynn Kay Hornback was born on February 10, 1945, to Earl and Fern Hornback. They brought her home to join her sister Karen and brother Shelton on a farm outside of Spencer, NE, in Boyd County. She was raised in a good Christian home and attended a country school. Later, she would venture into Spencer and live with her grandma Mary Etta Hornback and attend high school there. She graduated high school in 1963 and moved to Columbus, NE, to live with her sister Karen’s family and work at Dale Electronics.
Norman and Gwen met in Fremont in the spring of 1967 and were married that August in Spencer, NE. They lived in Fremon,t where they bought their first home and enjoyed several fun hobbies over the years like waterskiing, air boating, and car racing. They welcomed their first daughter Shannon in October 1970 and their second daughter Danielle in 1976. Gwen and Norm were self-employed for 32 ½ years and retired in 2014.
Norm enjoys gardening and Gwen enjoyed canning all the bountiful harvests from their garden.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2017 after Gwen had triple bypass surgery. Gwen has suffered from multiple health issues over the past several years.
Gwendolynn Kay ‘Gwen’ Gall, age 78, of Fremont, NE, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Methodist Fremont Health.
She is survived by her husband Norman Gall; daughters, Shannon (Jim) Jenkins of Fremont, NE, and Danielle (Roy) Abbott of Bennington, NE; grandchildren: Conner (Jordan) Jenkins of Fremont, NE, Neleigh Jenkins of Fremont, NE, and Kiana and Teagan Abbott of Bennington, NE; one great-grandson; sister Karen Tate of Columbus, NE; brother Shelton (Mary) Hornback of Cedar Falls, IA; and multiple nieces and nephews.
