Janice Eileen (Fode) Lindquist was born August 29, 1946, in Burke, SD, to Oscar and Elsie (Lindwurm) Fode. Janice grew up on a farm south of Burke where her family farmed, raised chickens, and milked cows. Janice attended Hanson Country School until the fifth grade. She then attended Burke School until graduation in 1964. Janice met Arvid at Hanson’s birthday party.
Janice and Arvid married on January 14, 1965. To this union came two sons: Steven and Mark. They lived on the Lindquist family farm raising hogs, cattle, and chickens. When the boys started school, Janice was offered the secretary position for Bill Meyer Investments. Later Janice took the secretary position at the Gregory Elementary School. She worked there for 14 years. Janice enjoyed her job, often buying the kids clothes, and being grandma to the whole school. Due to health issues, Janice retired in 2018.
Janice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Chris and Keva. She could often be found at the bowling alley having coffee with the gals, or at Carlock Dance Hall. Janice had a huge passion for gardening, bird watching, collecting teapots, and sewing anything for anybody.
Janice passed away December 4, 2024, at the Lake Andes Senior Living, at the age of 78 years.
