Funeral services for Monica Qualm were held on Friday, august 20, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD, with Reverend Annie Henninger officiating.
Music was provided by Kelly Frank, vocalist accompanied by Charlene Juran, organist. Paul and Charlene Dappen were in charge of registration and Erleen Berge was the flower attendant.
Casket bearers were Andy Qualm, Kevin Qualm, Chris Qualm, Rick Johnson and Kelly Bailey.
Interment was in the Rosebud Cemetery in Bonesteel, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Monica Mary Qualm was born May 4, 1931 at Sioux City, IA. Monica and her mother, Dorothy, moved to Gregory in 1932. She grew in Gregory and attended both elementary and high school, graduat in 1949. She then began working for a carpenter shop.
A year later she met Donald Qualm and they were married December 1950. The young couple made their first home in Bonesteel, SD. Don spent from 1950-1954 in the army infantry as a MP. Once his service eer ended Monica and Donald bought a ranch north of Bonesteel ere they ranched the Whetstone until 2001.
After Donald’s death, Monica continued to run the ranch. Due to Dory’s failing health, Monica gave up the ranch life to live closer to her ther. Her new home was at the Burke Senior Housing.
Monica loved animals, especially the baby calves. She spent a lot of e fishing with her best friend Ruth Sutton. Her love of playing cards, ncing to polka music and her love of country music kept her busy. nald and Monica were active in the Episcopal Church.
She died August 15, 2021, at the Community Memorial Hospital in rke, SD, at the age of 90 years.
She is survived by her aunt Lillian of Rapid City, SD; her nephew, n; her brother-in-law Kenny (Dorothy) Qualm of Torrington, WY; d several nieces, nephews and friends.
Monica was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her mother rothy (Mrs. Frank) Krienbuhl; aunt Polly Cerney; uncles Steven and rle, and many nieces and nephews.
