A graveside service for Sheila Ann Christiansen, age 66, of Dallas, SD, will be held at 11 a.m., April 11, 2026, in the Hillview Cemetery in Dallas, SD. Following the service, lunch will be provided at Frank Day’s at noon, followed by a band performing from 2-6 p.m. to celebrate Sheila’s life. Sheila Ann Christiansen was born on April 10, 1959, to Arthur and Claris (Hight) Christiansen. They lived south of Dallas, SD. Sheila graduated from Gregory High School in 1977. She went to college in Minnesota for four years to be a lab tech. She later worked in San Diego, CA, for several years. After her father’s death, Sheila moved back to be with her mother in Gregory. At this time she met her significant other Roger Steffen and they were together for over forty years.

Sheila worked at Consumers Credit Union in Gregory for a few years and also helped Dooley at the river marina where she loved serving drinks and steaks while socializing with everyone. Later, Sheila spent many years working in the laundry department at the Winner Regional Hospital. She also spent many nights waitressing for Shelly Day, making good tips. Her last five or six years working Sheila was a mail carrier in Winner and in her spare time took care of her mom and her stepdad. After her mother’s passing, Sheila retired with Roger, and they lived on the Jansen farm.

Sheila liked playing cards, gardening, tending her houseplants, and mowing the huge yard. She grew 30 potted plants for many years to put on family graves on Memorial Day. On a nice day, she might walk up to seven or eight miles. She enjoyed ladies night out at Shelly’s with lots of her girlfriends to catch up on things.

After nearly a year-long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Sheila passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the Winner Regional Hospital at the age of 66 years.

Sheila had no siblings and is survived by some cousins on her father’s side, and on her mother’s side she is survived by Iva Hight and many cousins in the White River area. She is also survived by her companion of many years, Roger Steffen.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Clarice and her step-father Leonard.
