Obituaries

Wilma Klein

A memorial service for Wilma Fay (Klinger) Klein, 103, of Omaha, NE, was held October 24, 2024, at Brookestone Village, in Omaha, NE. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Burke, SD, next to her husband Harold. Kahler-Dolce Mortuary handled the arrangements. Wilma was born on February 28, 1921, in Burke, SD, to Richard and Ora (Sufficool) Klinger. She spent her early years on the family farm, where she helped the family in various duties, including tending to crops and cattle. In 1939, Wilma graduated from Burke High School, where she was an editor of the school newspaper and member of the debate team, “The Howlers.” Wilma met Harold Klein when she was 24 years old, and the two married on August 5, 1945. Together they built their home in Lucas, SD, and adopted their only son, Fred Paul Klein, in 1955, when he was six years old. The family moved to Omaha in 1961.

William “Bill” Cable

A Celebration of Life service for William “Bill” Cable, 73, of Winner, SD, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Winner 4-H Center in Winner, SD. Burial will follow at a later date. Mason Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. William “Bill” Cable was born on May 8, 1952, in Geddes, SD, the first child of Walter LeRoy Cable and Rose (Hermanek) Cable. His childhood was spent playing and rough housing with four older and two younger siblings on the family farm outside of Geddes. Bill graduated from high school in 1970 and immediately joined the National Guard where he served until 1976. Bill’s unit was called to help with the flood that devastated the Rapid City area in 1972.

Dorothy Stroh

Memorial services for Dorothy J. Stroh, of Gregory, SD, were held June 3, 2025, at Michael J. Fitzmaurice Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD, officiated by Chaplain Morris Nelson. Committal was at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD. Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home of Hot springs, SD, was in charge of the arrangements. Dorothy was born on November 4, 1924, in Burke, SD, to Ora Sufficool and Richard Klinger. Dorothy graduated from Burke High School in 1942, and soon after went to work at Boys’ Town in Omaha, NE. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by working on the blueprints for bombers. On March 24, 1948, she married Edrine Stroh, with whom she built a beautiful life and family.

Donald Ring

A funeral service for Donald Eugene Ring was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Methodist Church in Winner, SD, with Pastor Ron Snethen officiating. Kathy Nicholas accompanied the congregation on the piano for several selections, and Geoff Smith performed How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone as a soloist.

Izaak Koenig

A Celebration of Life for Izaak Joseph Koenig will be held at 11 a.m., September 11, 2025, at the Community Hall in Fairfax, SD, with Pastor Clark Gies officiating. Tara Herman and Jaci Rieser will be in charge of registration, and Jim and Kylie Bernt will be in charge of flowers.

Juanita Hauf

Funeral services for Juanita Joyce Hauf were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Burke, South Dakota with Pastor Philip Henning officiating. Music was provided by accompanist Randy Sachtjen and the Grace Lutheran Church Choir.

George A. Stuckers Sr.

A graveside service and interment for George A. Stuckers, Sr., will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2025, at Graceland Cemetery in Burke, South Dakota with Pastor Thaniel Certa-Werner officiating.

Stephen Schrader

A funeral service for Stephen Schrader was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Prairie View Gospel Barn with Pastor Royal Archer officiating. Nichole Swan, Jolene Pulse, and Lisa Schrader attended to registrations, and Lori Whitney, Kristi Drey, Savannah Schrader, and Sandra Schrader were flower attendants.

Wayne Odus Hill

A funeral service for Wayne Hill was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Prairie View Gospel Barn in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Ron Rice officiating and Pastor Allen Bouslaugh sharing memories.

Albert Ratermann

A graveside service for Albert B. Ratermann will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Butte Cemetery in Butte, NE. Clausen Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Al Ratermann was born to Lydia (Zimmerle) Ratermann in Butte, NE, on October 26, 1943. Al was raised on the family farm and graduated from Burke High School, Burke, SD, in 1960 and then enlisted in the Air Force after graduation. He made his home in Honolulu, HI, where he was a successful business owner who excelled as a contractor and took pride in all his work. He left an indelible mark on numerous projects throughout his community. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked with him.
