After the Bronco fundraiser, a matching pledge challenge up to $200,000 was issued, beginning July 9, 2024. Since that time, various fundraisers have been held, and the total amount of money toward the matching funds is currently at $79,867.30, but this does not include any donations made during the month of July.

U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of South Dakota United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced July 22, 2025, that Richard Alan Kucera, age 67, of Winner, South Dakota, was found guilty of two counts of Sex Trafficking of a Child and two counts of Production of Child Pornography following a four-day federal jury trial in Pierre, South Dakota. The verdict was returned on July 18, 2025.

Brindy Bolander of Winner is one of 14 South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences students awarded a grant that will allow them to conduct a research project under the mentorship of a college faculty member. Bolander will use stable isotopes to determine the effect of hypoxia on Largemouth Bass diets in a research project in the area of natural resource management. David Coulter from the natural resource management department will mentor Bolander on the project.
