The Gregory Gorillas faced a formidable opponent on the gridiron Friday night as they traveled to Parkston to take on the top-ranked 9AA team in the state, and came away with a disappointing 50-0 loss.

The Gregory High School volleyball team chalked up a win and a loss last week on the road. On Tuesday, September 19, the team beat the Todd County Lady Falcons in three games.

The Gregory High School cheer and dance team competed against some of the state’s biggest schools in Harrisburg on Saturday, September 23. While the team placings weren’t very high, Coach Lenna Braun was pleased with the team’s scores.

The Gregory Gorillas put another mark in the win column Friday evening as they defeated the Kimball/ White Lake WiLdKats 29-18. With thunderstorms threatening to interfere with the game, officials called for an early start to try to avoid a cancellation.

Score early and score often was the Gorillas’ playbook theme on Friday night in their 50-0 win against the Irene/Wakonda Eagles. Luke Stukel was back from the injury he incurred in the first game of the season, and he wasted no time showing that he was ready to play.

The Lady Spikers began their season on August 31, 2023, with a win over Lyman by scores of 2523, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-17. In the Gregory Invitational, they won over Lower Brule 25-6, 25-7, and Colome with scores of 25-11 and 25-21, before being defeated by Burke, 19-25 and 16-25, and finishing in second place.
