High winds cut short Wagner track meet

What started as a beautiful spring day turned into a dangerous wind storm, forcing officials to cut the Wagner Track Meet short on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Gregory finished in the top five for the men in a field of 14 in the events that were completed.

Schools to decide on changing 2023 football

The 2023 high school football schedules may get a second look after a lengthy discussion Tuesday by the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors. At issue were complaints from schools that field nine-man teams and 11A schools.

Gregory Co. 1 - PGDCWL 6 Gregory County watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-1 loss to the Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake Honkers Monday evening, April 11.

JV, middle school golfers hit the links at home

The middle school golf teams played at Burke on Tuesday, April 12, while the JV team hosted a meet in Gregory. Shyanna Steffen shot a 66 for the middle school girls to tie for third place.

Gregory boys bring home golf championship

The boys golf team bested 15 other teams to claim the championship at the SESDSS Golf Tournament at the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, Thursday, April 14. Trey Murray led the team, shooting a 37 and 42 for a 79 for the day, good enough to tie for first place.

Jessy Jo VanderWerff

Jessy Jo VanderWerff, a junior point guard for the Gorillas, was selected by South Dakota Class B coaches as a member of the Class B All-State team. Jessy led the Gorillas in points per game with 17.6 points per game and 2.6 assists per game. Jessy was selected to the Girls Class B 3rd team All-State team.

Gregory golfers place three in top ten at Mitchell

The boys golf team competed in the 2022 Class B Classic in Mitchell on Friday, April 8. Of the four Gregory golfers who made the trip, three placed in the top ten. Eli Fogel led the team, landing in the second place spot with his score of 77. Kade Stukel’s 82 earned him a seventh place spot, and Trey Murray wasn’t far behind in ninth place, shooting an 84. Kade Braun rounded out the team’s performance in 38th place with a 96 for the day.
