Status of Chamber of Commerce director position finally settled

Several members of the Chamber of Commerce were in attendance at the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council on Tuesday evening, January 16, to further discuss the future of how the city will fund the Chamber director position. The council had decided during executive session at the last meeting to fund the position as a salaried employee until July 1, 2024, and in the meantime come up with a permanent solution.

Murray named to the president’s list at LATC

Tiffany Sanderson, Lake Area Technical College president of Watertown, SD, recently announced the 2023 fall president’s list. The president’s list is of outstanding students who, through their initiative and ability, have indicated a seriousness of purpose in their educational program. It is limited to full-time students who have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0.

Marcus Popowski named to the fall 2023 BSC president’s honor roll

DEA Omaha division notes record Fentanyl seizures in 2023 / Methamphetamine still prevalent in midwestern states

The five state Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Omaha Division marked an 83 percent increase in the number of fentanyl pills seized in 2023 and removed an estimated 2.9 million lethal doses of fentanyl both in pill and powder form, from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and eight counties along the western border of Illinois and Wisconsin. Nationally, the DEA seized more than 77 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of fentanyl, amounting to more than 386 million deadly doses, enough to kill every American.
