Lead, SD – Gerard Keating, CEO of Keating Resources, developer of the 660-acre luxury mountaintop adventure community Deer Mountain Village in Lead, South Dakota, announced the sale of the first $1 million one-acre residential lot in South Dakota’s 135-year history, dating back to the state’s founding in 1889. Keating also shared that phase one of the 187 one-acre single-family home development is now 35% sold, with closed sales exceeding $10 million from buyers across 10 states, including 20% from Texas.

Gregory County 4-H Recognition Night was held

Gregory County 4-H held their annual recognition night on Monday, November 4, at Fairfax City Hall. At recognition night, they celebrate and recognize 4-H youth and their accomplishments, sponsors, volunteers, and more. Emcees for the event were Kendra Kahler, Taylor Zeisler, and Dale Smikle.

After only 25 years, hospital is outdated

This is the third installment in the history of Gregory’s hospitals and nursing home. With the new hospital in Gregory only 25 years old, the boards of directors of Gregory Community Hospital and Rosebud Nursing Home, together with the Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society (LHHS) of Fargo, which operated both facilities, decided in June 1973 to launch a $1,750,000 building program to erect a new 40-bed hospital and add on to the Rosebud Home.

Fundraiser for Atkins family is happening on Friday, November 15

The Hot Pursuit of Support fundraiser for the family of Police Officer Jeremy Atkins is coming up this Friday, November 15, at the American Legion Hutchison Post in Gregory. Atkins’ 17-year-old son Levi was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in early August and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Republicans dominate 2024 election locally and statewide

The 2024 election is over, and the results are in. Gregory County and the state of South Dakota followed the national trend, choosing Donald Trump as the next president. Gregory County, in fact, was more decisive than voters statewide for every decision on the ballot.

White River man sentenced to 40 years in prison

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced that a White River man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison, with 20 years suspended, after earlier being convicted on three charges, including two counts of rape.
