For the most part, Gregory County followed state trends in the general election held Tuesday, November 8, although, more strongly favored Republicans, and the majority voted against the expansion of Medicaid.

The FFA team of William Sinkular, Dory Bruns, Sam Parkis, and Aubree Miller presented their district- winning program during the Gregory School Board of Education’s Gorilla Good News portion of their monthly board meeting, held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2022. As part of the qualification to compete at state, the team has to give their presentation to quality forums in the area prior to the state competition December 4-5 in Pierre.

The Gorillas are state champions for the first time since 2017 after defeating the #1 ranked Warner Monarchs in the Class 9A title game on November 10 by a score of 36-23 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion.

On October 25, local interpreters performed their pieces to determine who would represent Gregory at districts. After listening to 20 pieces, the judges narrowed it down to seven, and the top piece in each of the seven categories moved on to districts.

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, November 17, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has received numerous questions regarding its permitting jurisdiction related to the proposed Gregory County Pumped Storage Project. The PUC has determined that under current law, no permit can be required from the PUC for facilities within the boundary of the proposed project.

The City of Gregory announces that RF Buche has voluntarily offered to annex the Gus Stop into the City of Gregory. This annexation will be effective as soon as the state approves.
