Gregory’s enrollment down by one compared to fall of 2022

Enrollment at the Gregory School District is down by one student as the 2023-24 school year begins. This biggest drop is in high school, where the total is down by eight despite the sophomores being the largest class in the district with 36 students.

Waterman is new city finance officer

Trudy Waterman is the new finance officer for the City of Gregory. Waterman lives in Naper, NE, where she and her husband have a feed yard. Although she still lends a hand with the operations, her main responsibility over the past several years has been doing the bookwork, so she is familiar with the responsibilities of her new job, though with fewer accounts. Switching from paper to Quickbooks has freed up enough of her time to pursue other employment opportunities.

Carol Anderson celebrated after career of 50+ years at cafe

Carol Anderson was celebrated by the people of Gregory last Thursday afternoon. Anderson, practically a permanent living fixture in the cafe at the corner of 6th and Main, retired after over 50 years of working there.

24th annual convention highlights

R-CALF USA just completed its 24th annual convention held August 17 - 18 in Rapid City, SD. It was a huge success, with about 350 members in attendance and over 2,000 viewers watching and listening over the internet live streaming service provided by CattleUSA.

Ludwig van Beethoven was known to say, “Music should strike fire from the heart of man and bring tears from the eyes of woman.” When one thinks of a junior high band or choir, one might think of squeaky woodwinds, blaring brass, and off-key soloists. Rushmore Music Camp for those in junior high school, held at Northern State University in Aberdeen helps young musicians refine their musical talents.

Meet the new staff members at the Gregory School District

Hometown girl Michelle Birkeland will begin her career with the Gregory School District this year as a paraprofessional. A Gregory High School graduate, Birkeland went on to obtain an associate of applied science degree from Mitchell Tech.
