SD Cattlemen’s Foundation delivers all-beef hotdogs to Feeding South Dakota

Leaders with the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation (SDCF) worked with Jorgensen Land & Cattle of Ideal, South Dakota, to secure a $100,000 donation of allbeet hotdogs to Feeding South Dakota. The donation makes up an entire semi-truck of all-beef hotdogs, and will be delivered to Feeding South Dakota on the first day of National Beef

Pink Ladies: Local league throws for a cause

The Pink Ladies are a group of lady dart throwers whose sole purpose is to raise money to assist people fighting cancer in Gregory County and surrounding areas. The Pink Ladies raise money through their dart league, dart tournaments, golf tournaments, various raffles, silent auctions, bake sales and many other fundraisers.

Cuatro Crown High School Rodeo season opener this weekend in Burke

Now known as the Cuatro Crown Rodeo Series, rodeo action gets underway Friday morning in Wagner, SD, then moves to Burke for the cowboy and cowgirl cutting events Friday evening, then two rounds of rodeo in Burke on Saturday, culminating with a final round and awarding of jackets and all around saddles in Geddes, SD on Sunday.

Courthouse restoration sees light at end of tunnel

Years after the Burke tornado caused extensive damage to the Gregory County Courthouse, Representatives from Ciavarella Design and Puetz Design Build held a pre-construction meeting with the Gregory County Board of Commissioners via video call during their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, to discuss the HVAC replacement and wall repair project for the courthouse. The wall repair was needed because after the tornado, the board opted to replace all the courthouse windows with new, larger windows consistent with the courthouse’s original design. This left the plaster on the interior damaged and awaiting funding for repair.

Aerial acrobatics comes to Gregory County

Meredith McMurray has brought a whole new art form to the Gregory County area. As the owner of Dangling Dance, she practices and teaches aerial acrobatics, which refers to circus arts performed while suspended in the air, typically on equipment like a trapeze, rope, rings, or silks. It involves a variety of tricks including swinging, balancing, and moving through different poses.

Pool fund continues to grow

After the Bronco fundraiser, a matching pledge challenge up to $200,000 was issued, beginning July 9. Since that time, various fundraisers have been held, and the total amount of money toward the matching funds is currently at $55,407.91.
