Gregory boys pick up two more wins on the court

Gregory 55 - Ipswich 51 The Gregory Gorillas played in the Hanson Corn Palace Classic on Saturday, January 20, and came away with a 55-51 victory over the Ipswich Tigers. The Gorillas never trailed in the game, but the score was tied twice throughout the four quarters.

SD Housing hosting listening sessions regarding housing finance programs

South Dakota Housing, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, will be hosting three listening sessions around the state to solicit comments on the 2024 Annual Action Plan and the allocation plans for the HOME, Housing Tax Credit, Housing Trust Fund, Emergency Solutions Grants, Community Development Block Grant, and Housing Opportunity Fund programs.

Lady Gorillas fall to Winner

The Lady Gorillas hosted Winner on Saturday, January 6. The Gorillas fell behind 20 to 2 in the first quarter and trailed 36 to 9 at halftime. Winner outscored Gregory 15 to 2 in the third quarter and closed out the game claiming a 64 to 21 victory Gregory had trouble shooting, both from the field and the foul line, shooting a cool 9 of 36 from the field for 25%. Winner shot 25 of 63 for 40%. Gregory didn’t help themselves from the foul line, going a cool 2 of 9 for 22% while Winner made 5 of 9 for 55%. Scoring for Gregory were Dani VanDer-Werff with 6, Ella Sperl 4, Regan Graesser 3, Sadie Carlson 1, and Asia VanderWerff 7.

Gorillas return after five games on the road and defeats Lyman at home

The Gregory Gorillas returned home after five road games and defeated the Lyman Raiders on Thursday, January 4, 2024, by a score of 72-44. The Gorillas jumped on the young Lyman Raiders immediately, and never looked back.

Natural asset companies’ proposed rule threatens property rights

Quietly, on September 29, 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission, at the request of the New York Stock Exchange, proposed a rule to create a new type of company called a Natural Asset Company (NAC). According to the proposed rule, a NAC would “hold the rights to ecological performance,” giving these companies license to control the management of both public and private lands through quantifying and monetizing natural outputs such as air and water. In other words, NACs would use the air you breathe as currency.

Lady Gorillas drop two in first games of 2024

Gregory 30 - AC/DC 64 The Gregory girls basketball team started the New Year on the road at Lake Andes on January 2. Gregory trailed 7-13 after the first quarter and 15-31 at halftime.

Storm wrestlers claim sixth place at Miller

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers finished sixth out of 17 teams in Miller at the Bob Lager Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 6, with ten of the 14 wrestlers who went competing as varsity. The team is still missing their 175 pounder and one of their 120 pounders. Coach Webster is looking forward to getting them healed and having a full team back on the mat.
