Allum named fan of the year

Sorry I can’t join you tonight but I want you folks to know how thankful I am for being chosen your fan of the year. After I retired I decided to move back to Gregory and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made! I’ve made many great friends and watching the Gorillas for the past 20 years has been a highlight of my life. Thank you, coaches and football players, for seeing me in the hospital and giving me a signed football helmet. As they say it’s a great day to be a gorilla. Your friend, Dewey

Attorney General Jackley, S.D. Bankers Association partner on anti-scam campaign

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and South Dakota Bankers Association (SDBA) President Karl Adam announce a partnership to educate bank customers about banking scams. The Attorney General’s Office and the SDBA are supporting the American Bankers Association’s “Banks Never Ask” campaign which focuses on anti-phishing and scamming awareness.

Christmas Giveaway items ready for the Gregory Elementary to shop on December 9

The local elves have been working hard on this year’s Christmas Giveaway. They have gathered over 500 gifts for Gregory Elementary school students from begindergarten through fifth grade to pick two presents to give to their family or friends. Hundreds of boxes of items were gone through, sorted and ready for this year’s event to be held at the school library on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Fall is in the air. Cool, crisp nights, shorter days, the scent of pumpkin spice everywhere, evening bonfires, and sweaters. Fall also means Homecoming, and Gregory High School is gearing up for their special week.

Sixty-one years later, army buddies still get together

They went to basic training together, advanced infantry training together, to Vietnam together, and home together. They were members of Company B 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Division, also known as “Big Red One.” Their experience created an unbreakable bond that continues to bring them together.

A plea from Gregory’s Wastewater Staff: Don’t flush your disposable wipes!

Gregory, SD - Disposable wipes have been causing problems in communities around the country and Gregory is no different. Wipes — used for changing diapers, personal hygiene, housecleaning, and more — cause major problems when flushed down toilets. Though many of these products are labeled “flushable” or “septic safe,” they are anything but. The same goes for facial tissues, baby wipes, paper towels and other products.
