Seven students receive superior ratings at the State Oral Interpretation Festival

Last Friday, eight GHS students traveled to Harrisburg High School to compete in the 114th annual State Oral Interpretation Festival. Two days were jampacked with B, A, and AA performances. Those bringing home some hardware were Eli Barreto, Kaydence Klein, Cindy Khuu, Mya Determan, Cruz Klundt, Madisan Graber, and Piper Bartlett.

Wanted: Santa’s helpers to make Christmas bright

The 51st Community Christmas tree at BankWest has plenty of room for presents underneath as Diane Bachmann, Mackenzie Stukel, and Lea Schell, shown l to r, will attest. To help fill the space and bring a merrier Christmas to a child in need, stop in and choose a card for a child. The card will have all the information you need to choose the perfect gifts - sex and age of the child, needs, and interests. Gifts should be delivered to BankWest by Wednesday, December 13, to allow time to sort and deliver by Christmas. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

A love of playing guitar leads to years of building them

His big brother is to blame. Or more appropriately, the one to whom the credit belongs. That’s according to Joe Tyburec, who developed a life-long love of the guitar at a young age when his older brother Stan bought a guitar and allowed his younger brothers to use it also. This eventually led Joe to building guitars.

These students will represent GHS in the 114th Annual State O ral Interpretatio n F estival to be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 & 2 at the Harrisburg High School The state festival will be held at Harrisburg High School on December 1 and 2.

South Dakota outperforms nation on ACT

ACT has released its 2023 results. South Dakota students earned an average composite score of 21.1, which is above the national average and the highest in the region. Nearly 60 percent of the state’s 2023 graduates took the ACT.
