Breaking a sweat

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the demands of everyday life, leaving little time for self-care. However, studies have shown that incorporating exercise into our daily routines can have a profound impact on our mental health. Exercise not only improves our physical health, but it can also help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, boost self-esteem and confidence, and improve overall cognitive function.

The hustle and bustle of spring

After the dry summer we experienced last year, it is fantastic to be starting the planting season with some rain. Planting season has been in full swing for the previous three weeks on our farm. Our first field planted just started to pop out of the ground and the 1.8 inches of rain we have received in the last week will surely help the crops.

Dakota State 2023 spring academic honors list released

A total of 559 full-time and 205 part-time students qualified for the president’s academic honors list for the 2023 spring semester at Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison, S.D. Area full-time students achieved a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0 to qualify for the honors list.

Mount Marty University in Yankton announces spring 2023 dean's list

Mount Marty University in Yankton, SD, recently announced the spring 2023 dean's list honorees. The dean's list honoree at Mount Marty University is defined as a full-time undergraduate student completing a full-time load of graded coursework with a minimum term grade point average of 3.5.

Send-off to be held on Thursday for state tracksters There will be a community send-off for the Gregory track team on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. The team will be escorted by the fire trucks down Gregory’s Main Street.

Tracksters improve records at region meet, get ready for state

The sky was filled with thick smoke from the Canadian wildfires on Thursday, May 18, as the Region 5 track and field meet got underway at Lake Andes. Because of the smoke, Coach Kurt Stukel said that, out of concern for the athletes’ health, most of the running events for the Gregory team were limited to those runners looking to improve their times for state.

Middle school track team finishes strong at Lyman track meet

Bob King Invitational Middle School Track & Field Meet Lyman, May 4 The middle school track team competed in the Bob King Invitational Middle School Track & Field Meet in Lyman on Thursday, May 4. The 8th grade boys won a very decisive team championship with 100 points, while the 7th grade boys finished in 7th place in their division.

Vy Nguyen receives academic excellence honors in Pierre

The academic achievements of the best and brightest students from the Class of 2023 were recently recognized at the 33rd Annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon. Govenor Kristi Noem and the Associated School Boards of South Dakota (ASBSD) honored students who were identified as the top one percent of their senior classes, from the state’s public, private and tribal/BIE schools on Monday, April 24, 2023.
