Gregory hosts piano and vocal contest

On Saturday, April 15th, Gregory hosted the 5th-8th grade vocal contest. The students were judged on a number scale with a superior plus or I+ being the best. As a school, Gregory had 25 total entries.

Grace Evangelical Church to celebrate 100 years

The members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burke, SD, will observe the anniversary of one hundred years since the founding of the congregation with a celebration of “100 Years Under Grace” on Sunday, May 7, 2023, with two services. The first service will be at 10:00 a.m.with the current pastor Rev. Philip Henning as officiant and former pastor Rev. Fred Schurman preaching. A festival service will be held at 2:30 that afternoon with former Grace pastors Rev. Jonathan Kruschel as officiant and Rev. David Haberkorn as preacher. A catered meal will be served after the morning service and refreshments will be available after the afternoon service.

Funeral services to be held for Evelynne Moses Funeral services for Evelynne Moses, age 94, of Gregory, SD, formerly of Winner, SD, will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Winner City Cemetery in Winner, SD. Mason Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Husman says good-bye, Schlaht returns to council

The final meeting of the 2022-23 Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2023, at City Hall. Spring clean-p is underway around the city The public works department has been transitioning to spring and summer work, according to Superintendent Josey Larsen.

Community meetings held to provide pumped storage project updates

Representatives from MidAmerican Energy Company (MEC) and Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) held public meetings at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, in Platte. The purpose of the meetings was to provide updates to the public regarding the Gregory County Pumped Storage Project.

Gregory County FFA well represented at state convention

Eleven members of the Gregory County FFA chapter attended the South Dakota state convention April 16-18. When the chapter was chartered two years ago, one of the goals set was to have members qualify for state.
