South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said on March 6 that South Dakota has joined a 46-state coalition in filing an amicus brief asking that TikTok, Inc. comply with an ongoing investigation into whether the company violated consumer protections.

Students in the Burke and Gregory school districts were invited to the courthouse in Burke on Wednesday, March 1, for Government Day, a joint venture between Gregory County and the county Legion & Auxiliary posts.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, members of the high school band took part in the instrumental small group contest in Chamberlain. Gregory took 22 entries to contest. Fifteen of those entries scored high enough to earn superiors, and get medals. Groups need 31-35 points, solos need 26-30, an percussion groups/solos need 21-25 points to earn a superior. Those earning a superior were: Alto sax solo (26) Lana Talsma; alto sax solo (26) Eli Fogel; percussion group (24); baritone solo (28) Kaydence Klein; tuba solo (29) Eli Barreto; tenor sax solo (29) Savannah Swan, sax quartet (33) Eli Fogel, Lana Talsma, Savannah Swan, and Lincoln Juracek; timpani solo (23) Madi Graber; marimba solo (24) Madi Graber; clarinet choir (34); flute solo (26) Heyden Westfall; flute solo (27) Piper Bartlett; clarinet trio (31) Ella Sperl, Addy Stukel, and Aubree Miller; marimba duet (22) Madi Graber and Aubree Opp; piano solo (28) Mya Determan.

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 16th, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

The Dixon Townhall has gone through a major upgrade. This was a much needed upgrade on the outside of the building, replacing windows and siding, and adding insulation.

South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem vetoed a proposal last Thursday that would have allowed cities to hike taxes on temporary lodging to help fund events and attractions to draw tourists.

A contingent from the Gregory/ Dallas Chamber of Commerce was in attendance at the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council, held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, to learn the fate of the Chamber director position.

Dixon Town Hall received some much-needed attention over the summer. Windows, siding, paint, a door, and insulation transformed the building into a showpiece once again. And it was time. The old 1916 structure has seen over a century of rain, sun, hail, snow, and just general wear, and was still sporting most of its original building materials. Before arriving at its current location, it had been used for church services, school, public meetings, and as a silent movie house.
