Funeral services for Cody Dean Vogt, age 35, of Herrick, SD, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Bill Serr officiating. Music was provided by Ona Ebsen on organ. Stephen Doering was in charge of registrations. Casket bearers were Kyle Nelson, Cody Atteberry, Austin Atteberry, Scott Stukel, Nathan Hay, and William Doering. All of Cody’s family and friends were honorary casket bearers. Interment took place at Herrick Cemetery in Herrick, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Cody Dean Vogt was born on November 26, 1990, in Gregory, South Dakota to Ronald and Deborah Vogt. He was their third child and only son. Cody was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Herrick, South Dakota. He was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jameson, Nebraska.
Cody graduated from Bonesteel High school in 2010. He worked in the concessions during high school games and received a scholarship for all of the time he put in helping the school. While in High School, Cody worked for John Ziebro at the Bonesteel Supper Club where he enjoyed visiting with people and helping his brother-in-law with the restaurant.
After graduating from high school, Cody attended Mitchell Technical College and obtained an Associates Degree in Agricultural Science in 2012 while spending his summers on the family farm, building his own herd and preparing for his life farming and ranching which was his true love from a very young age.
Cody also worked for many ranchers in the area, helping them with their herds, and never turned down a request to help anyone who was in need.
In October 2021, Cody met Logan Marie Behnk, and they were married on June 1, 2024, at the family ranch south of Herrick, SD. Together they made a home in Herrick where they raised many different types of animals.
On August 3, 2025, they welcomed their baby boy, Royal Klaus Vogt, into the world. Cody loved his role of being a husband and a father, and did his best every day to provide for his young family.
Cody took great joy in spending time with his family during the holidays and loved playing board games and visiting with extended family, talking about ranching.
Tragically, on December 8, 2025, Cody’s life was cut short by an automobile accident.
Cody is survived by his wife Logan, his son Royal, his mother and father, his sisters Becky Ann Vogt (John Rusch) and Susan Rae (J.R.) Baer, grandmother Dorothy Hein, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
