Ivan Christensen

A celebration of Ivan's life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Rock Haven Church in Montevideo, MN. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo was in charge of arrangements. Ivan was born October 14, 1934, in a farmhouse in Gregory County, SD. He was born the fourth of five sons to Edward and Mary (Hull) Christensen. At an early age, Ivan found he had a knack for fixing anything with a motor. Therefore, to earn money for a car he started working at the age of 14, doing odd jobs for the neighboring farmers. Ivan followed in his brothers’ footsteps by deciding to serve our country and enlisted into the U.S. Army in June 1956. After basic training, he spent 14 months as a military police officer in Germany. The last five months of his military career were spent at Fort Benning, GA. After honorable discharge he served four years in the South Dakota National Guard. Ivan married Luella (Swift) in November 1956 while home on military leave.

Layne Kenzy

Funeral services for Layne Kenzy were held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at The Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, KS, with Chaplain Don Cross officiating. Casket bearers were Wayne Fleetwood, Thomas Langenwalter, Rob O’Bryan, CJ Peri, Kyle Russell, and Blake Smith, Honorary casket bearers were Gordon Kaiser, Joe Knab, Dave Smith, and Corbin Thompson. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery in Winfield, KS. Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Born September 22, 1947, in Winner, SD, he was the son of Darl and Lois (Ellwanger) Kenzy. He was raised and received his education in South Dakota, graduating from Gregory High School in 1965. He then began attending Southern State Teacher’s College in Springfield, SD, where he was studying to become a diesel mechanic. In 1968, Layne was in a vehicle accident that left him paralyzed. After the accident, he made the decision to attend Oklahoma Tech in Okmulgee, OK, and study watch repair. Upon his graduation from Oklahoma Tech in 1973, he started his career at Archer’s Jewelry in Winfield, KS.

Jane Leibel

Mass of Christian burial for Jane Leibel, age 79, of Mobridge, SD, was held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge, SD. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge was in charge of arrangements. Jane Frances Leibel was born December 30, 1944, in Mobridge, SD, to Anton (Tony) and Frances (Martian) Leibel, the second oldest of seven children.

Funeral services for Mark Huber were held on Friday, May 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes, SD.

Lynn Zeller

Funeral services for Lynn Zeller were held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Gregory, SD, with Reverend Thanael Certa-Werner officiating.

Albert Yuzicappi

Funeral services for Albert Yuzicappi were held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bonesteel City Hall in Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Dave Lays Bad officiating. Casket bearers were Corby Sachtjen, Jerone Jones, Doug Hrdlicka, Adrian Yellow Hawk, Ty Sachtjen, Kalum Yuzicappi, Mark Spencer, and Kazlen Yuzicappi. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Albert Joseph Yuzicappi was born to Joe and Rose (Tawiyaka) Yuzicappi on October 6, 1936 at Fort Qu’Appelle Saskatchewan, Canada. He began his spiritual journey to heaven on May 26, 2024 at the Parkston Nursing Home surrounded by family members. We are grateful for the care and support of his home health care nurse Ann, and the Nursing Home staff.

Funeral services for Raymond Ulmer were held on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD.

Gerald Parshall

Funeral services for Gerald Parshall were held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD. Christina Dagbovie and Sisti Wyrick were in charge of registration. Honorary casket bearers were Bud Brozik, Jon Parshall, Terry Bertelsen, Dominic Parshall, Rick Boyer, Allen Songer, Kevin Caldwell, and Kerry Caldwell. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Gregory, SD, at a later date. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Gerald (Gene) Parshall was born on March 15, 1957, to Arthur and Vivian (Hannahs) Parshall in Winner, SD. Jerry was the third oldest of eight children. He attended elementary school in Dallas, SD. He completed tenth grade at Gregory High School.
