Jeffrey Shomion

There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Heartland Funeral Home, with a prayer service and time of sharing beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jeffrey Michael Shomion was born on October 13, 1972, in Chadron, NE, to Ronald and Diane Shomion. He grew up in Gregory, SD, graduated from Gregory High School, and attended the University of South Dakota. Many years of his employment were spent at Wells Fargo. Jeff will be remembered for his contagious laugh and humor. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, and the Washinton Redskins. Jeff enjoyed camping and playing darts. Throughout the years, so many friendships were formed. It seemed like wherever you would go, someone would have a memory or story of Jeff.

Joseph Fott

Funeral services for Joseph L. “Joe” Fott, age 82, of Hamill, SD, were held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Hamill Community Hall in Hamill, SD. Burial was in the Hamill Cemetery at Hamill, SD. Hickey Funeral Home in Chamberlain, SD, was in charge of arrangements. Joe was born on November 26, 1941 to Joseph and Anna (Fortuna) Fott in Winner, SD, joining his siblings Lawrence and Adeline on the family farm near Hamill, SD. Joe attended North Fairview grade school near Hamill and high school in Winner, SD, graduating from high school in 1959. He attended Greer Technical Institute in Wilmington, IL, for diesel and construction mechanics after high school. Joe joined the South Dakota National Guard and did basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and served in the Chamberlain, SD Guard 200th Engineer Bridge Company until discharge in 1970.

Funeral services for Carol Schroeder were held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax, SD, with Pastor Bill Heermann officiating.

Mildred Johnson

Funeral services for Mildred Johnson were held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lucas Baptist Church in Lucas, SD, with Pastor Mark Tuttle officiating. Music was provided by Tracie Ritz, soloist, accompanied by Shawnda Hazen, pianist. Sue Chytka was in charge of registration. Casket bearers were Justin Johnson, Chad Hanrahan, Andrew Johnson, Matt Rozeboom, Jeff Ritz, and Josh Jochim. Honorary casket bearers were all of Mildred’s family and friends. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery in Burke, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Chad LaPointe were held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonesteel City Hall, in Bonesteel, SD, with Davis King officiating. Lyle Christensen

Funeral services for Lyle Christensen were held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Tim Voigt officiating. Steve Christensen gave the eulogy. Music was provided by Geoff Smith, soloist, and the congregation, accompanied by Jeanie Kotrba, pianist. Leann Schrader and Peg Roggow were in charge of registration. Flower attendants were Nichole Swan, Amber Combs, Ashley Swan, and Abigail Irish. Casket bearers were Katie Hansel, Stephanie Entringer, Brian Christensen, Daren Roggow, Eric Christensen, Bennett Haines, Mike Schrader, and Lee Schrader. Honorary casket bearers were Lyle’s great-grandchildren, and all the children that Lyle and Vi took care of over the years, that they thought of as family.

James Primeaux, Jr.

Funeral services for James Primeaux, Jr. were held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Bonesteel City Hall at Bonesteel, SD, with Pastor Ken James officiating. Casket bearers were Brandon Andrews, Wilfred Old Lodge, Travis Stone Arrow, Jason Stone Arrow, Justin Stone Arrow, and David Primeaux. Honorary casket bearers were all of his grandchildren, family and friends. Interment was in the Ponca Creek UCC Cemetery in St. Charles, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. James Raymond Primeaux, Jr. was born November 5, 1954 at Wagner, SD, to James Raymond Primeaux, Sr. and Josephine Susie Iron Hawk. James grew up around the St. Charles and Bonesteel area. He attended school here and there in the areas of St. Charles, Mission and Redfield. He also was in a boys ranch in Rapid City, SD. After school he lived with his parents to help care for his mother until she passed. He continued to live with his father and his brother David.
