Lady Spikers battle Bon Homme through five-set thriller

Another Homecoming week has come and gone and the Lady Spikers made the most of it. Monday night, the Lady Spikers took part in the Gregory Coronation ceremony, Tuesday night they welcomed Bon Homme to the Auditorium for three matches and Thursday night they had another coronation participation with the Colome ceremony and the burning of the “C.”

Runners set personal and season best times at Burke

The cross country team competed at the Cougar Invitational/ Great Plains Conference Meet in Burke on Thursday, October 1. Several boys and girls set personal best and season best times.

Gorillas fall to Buffaloes 24-8

The Gregory Gorillas hosted the Stanley County Buffaloes for Homecoming on Friday, October 4, 2026. In the first quarter, Stanley County scored the first touchdown of the game, but failed on the 2-point conversion. The Gorillas applied pressure, forced the Buffaloes to turn over the ball, and were able to put two offensive drives together. The Gorillas capitalized off the second turnover, and David Biggins found Avery Sengelmann on a 30-yard touchdown reception. Wyatt Beck scored the 2-point conversion, and the Gorillas led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter turned into a defensive battle, and the score remained Gregory 8 - Stanley County 6 at the intermission. In the second half, Stanley County scored three additional touchdowns and came away with the 24-8 victory.

Gorillas Fall to Panthers 50-0

Number two, ranked Platte-Geddes (Class 9AA) defeated Gregory/ Colome 50-0 on Friday, September 25. The Panthers scored their first touchdown and converted the 2 point conversion to take an early 8-0 lead in the First Quarter. The Gorilla defense was able to get some stops and forced a turnover early in the second quarter, but the Panthers scored three more touchdowns and led 30-0 at the intermission. The Gorilla offense struggled with the field conditions and had a hard time sustaining drives. In the second half, field conditions and turnovers hurt the Gregory/Colome Gorillas and Platte-Geddes scored three more touchdowns. The Platte-Geddes Panthers won their fourth game of the year, and extended their record to 4-1.

I’m sorry but I didn’t have a column last week as we were up in North Dakota helping a grandson with some carpentry work. In my world, there is nothing more important than spending time with family.

Lady Spikers battle through two home matches

This week the Lady Spikers continued their home season by welcoming the Todd County Lady Falcons and the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars to the Auditorium. Tuesday night started off with the C team taking the court first in the usual fashion.

Dance team places first at Wagner

The Gregory cheer and dance team has taken comments from the judges from their previous competitions this year and worked hard to make their routines better. On Monday, September 21, that work paid off at the competition in Wagner.

Gregory marching Gorillas ready for busy performance schedule

The Gregory Marching Gorillas are preparing for a busy schedule of performances starting this next Friday. The band’s first upcoming event will be the Missouri Marching Band Competition in Platte, SD, on Friday, September 25, 2026.
