Summer-time youth football in Gregory

The Gregory varsity football team hosted the 20th youth football camp at Mike Dacy field last week. Ninety-four campers ages six to twelve attended the event to learn more about the great game of football. Gregory football players and coaches were instructors for the camp and opened each session with football fundamentals, drills, and skills. Campers were sent to different stations around the field to practice running, tackling, passing, catching, and blocking utiliz-ing cones, bags, and pads. After a much-needed popsicle break all campers were split into teams for flag football games. All campers received a camp tee shirt and some grass stains free of charge.

Peck leads Gregory Co. with three hits in win against the Royals

Gregory County 11 Winner/Colome 1 Rylan Peck collected three hits in three at bats as the Gregory County varsity baseball team defeated the Winner/Colome Royals 11-1 on Thursday, May 9. Peck singled in the fifth inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Golfers compete at Bon Homme and home

The varsity golf team had meets at Bon Homme and Burke/Gregory in the past week. Asia VanDerWerff was the only Gorilla representative for the girls’ team at both.

Bombers lose despite out-hitting Pheasants

Burke Bombers 4 - Winner/ Colome Pheasants 12 The Burke Bombers men’s amateur baseball team fell 12-4 to the Winner/Colome Pheasants on Tuesday, May 7, despite outhitting them 11 to six. Aaron Sundquist, Blake Boes, Jordan Vosika, and Cole Christopherson each collected two hits for the Bombers.

Gregory tracksters run at Burke and Lyman

“This was a great meet,” Coach Kurt Stukel commented about the Meet of Legends in Burke on Tuesday, April 30. “We had some athletes step up their game and perform at levels they haven’t until this point in the season.” Daniel Mitchell was one of those athletes.

Gregory Co. 10 Winner/Colome 0 Gannon Thomas hit an in-thepark grand slam to lead Gregory County Varsity Baseball past the Winner/Colome Royals 10-0 on Tuesday, April 30.
