Once a location was secured, plans for the facility moved much more quickly, and by the end of May 1962 an architect’s rendering of the front of Rosebud Home for the Elderly was published in the Gregory Times-Advocate. -
The architect’s inspection was held at the end of June 1962. Shown are Raymond Scott, Pierre, Division of Hospital Facilities; Wendell C. Fritzell, Sioux Falls, architect; R.M. Kratzer, president of the board; Woodrow Sinkular, board member; E.O. Stene, Sioux Falls, general contractor; Elmer Karl, electrical contractor; Al VanderBerg, Sioux Falls, architects inspector; Martin Tilton and Roy Adams, members of the board. -
Another obstacle the officers of Rosebud Home faced was a location for the facility. Mr. and Mrs. Louie Pochop solved that dilemma in December 1961 when they donated 3.7 acres of land along Highway 47 on the southwest side of town. -
Although interest in building a home for the elderly began in 1958, the campaign didn’t gain much traction until March 1960, when Mrs. Martha Faust donated 4,920 acres of grassland to the cause.
