Wind energy systems ordinance passes first reading at Gregory County Commissioners meeting

The first reading of the wind energy systems ordinance was held at the regular meeting of the Gregory county Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, August 7. Planning and Zoning Board members John Jacobsen and Sonny Plugge as well as Planning and Zoning Administrator Betty Jo Hoffman were in attendance to answer any questions and explain the board’s rationale for regulations in the ordinance.

FFA’s national recognition honors reported at school board

Mollie Andrews, teacher for the ag CTE trailer and FFA advisor, delivered the Gorilla Good News at the regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education, held at 5:30 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2024. She had just found out on Friday (August 9) that the Gregory County FFA chapter was recognized as a 2-star chapter at the national level, meaning they are in the top 50% of all chapters that were submitted to nationals. (To submit an application to nationals, a chapter had to be recognized as being in the top ten percent in their state.) They will be recognized on stage at the national convention in October.

Ethanol blender pump grant deadline approaching

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development is reminding fuel retailers to apply for the Ethanol Blender Pump Grant before the August 31 deadline. This grant program is designed to expand the availability of ethanol blends across the state and help retailers install pumps.

SAL to hold monthly meeting

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 8:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.
