Chip sealing to begin next week

Sunday’s early morning rain left the city’s milled streets a muddy mess. The street department worked Monday to smooth them out again and keep them ready for the final step in resurfacing.

Avera Rosebud Country Care Center hosts Senior Olympics

Avera Rosebud Country Care Center (ARCCC) hosted the first of what organizers hope to be an annual Senior Olympics on Wednesday afternoon, August 14, 2024. The Silver Threads team had challenged ARCCC to the games, which included five events.

Gregory students attend Rushmore Music camps for two weeks

For two weeks starting at the end of July, Gregory students took advantage of the opportunity to attend Rushmore Music Camp. This year, Gregory had 17 kids attend the middle school week held in Aberdeen at Northern State University, and six students attended the high school camp held in the Black Hills.

Indictment: Ranch couple faces criminal charges over federal property boundary

Charles and Heather Maude, a western South Dakota farm and ranch couple, have been indicted for theft of federal property. The summons, served June 24, 2024, charged that the Maudes, “Beginning at a time unknown, but no later than December, 2020…did knowingly steal, purloin and convert to their own use National Grasslands managed by the United States Department of Agriculture, a department and agency of the United States, namely, approximately, 25 acres of National Grasslands for cultivation and approximately 25 acres of National Grasslands for grazing cattle, having a value in excess of $1,000 and did aid and abet each other, all in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 641 and 2.”
