Gregory golfers compete in Mitchell

It will be held in Mitchell on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

We’re asking our veterans to help, again

Near the end of May, we will celebrate Memorial Day, a day in which we will honor and mourn all our nation’s military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedoms, liberty, and independence while serving in the United States Armed Forces. May is also Military Appreciation Month, a special time for honoring and recognizing the contributions, sacrifices and service of the members of the armed forces, past and present.

Tobin visits the southern border with Gov. Noem

On Thursday, May 16, I was asked to travel with the Governor to the Southern border. Three legislators, myself included, headed to Texas in the early morning to talk to our South Dakota National Guard.

Second ballot question validated for 2024 General Election

Secretary of State Monae L. Johnson announces that a petition submitted for an initiated amendment was validated and filed by her office today. This ballot question would establish a right to abortion in the Constitution of South Dakota. The title for the ballot question will be Constitutional Amendment G, and it will appear on the 2024 General Election ballot on November 5, 2024.

Three coaching positions open at school

The regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education was held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, in the high school conference room. Teresa Webster, head volleyball coach; Skyler Hutcheson, middle school volleyball coach; and Kurt Stukel, middle school football coach all submitted their resignations from those extra duty positions, effective as of the close of the 2023-24 school year.

Lisa White Pipe meets with national leaders on behalf of tribal interests

Rosebud Sioux Tribal Councilwoman Lisa White Pipe, of Gregory, has been traveling across the country representing tribal interests with some of this nation’s leaders. On March 8-9, White Pipe attended a special Coalition of Large Tribes’ (COLT) meeting in Las Vegas, NV.

Sons Of American Legion to hold monthly meeting

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start at 8:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

Barreto receives recognition for academic excellence

The Class of 2024’s best and brightest students were recognized on April 29, 2024, at the 34th Annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon. Governor Kristi Noem’s office, Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden and the Associated School Boards of South Dakota honored students who were identified as the top one percent of their senior class from the state’s Public, Private and tribal/BIE schools.
