Gregory High NHS Scholarship blood drive results

Congratulations to the Gregory High School National Honor Society - they have already achieved the $500 scholarship level through their blood drive efforts and are now setting their sights on reaching the $2,500 level at their next blood drive.

Witt named to fall Deans’ List at UNL

Elly Lois Witt of Burke has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2025-26 academic year. Witt, a junior majoring in communication sciences and disorders, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Education and Human Sciences with the minimum requirement being a 3.75 GPA.

USD announces 2025 Fall Dean’s List

More than 2,400 students at the University of South Dakota are being honored for their high achievement during the fall 2025 semester with the release of the Dean’s List and Academic Honors. Local students recognized: Determan, Coy A Determan, Mya Jayne Flakus, London Maxine Keiser, Cassidy Eleanor Svatos, Jordan Jo VanDerWerff, Jessy Jo Full-time, undergraduate students are named to the Dean’s List if they received a 3.5 GPA for courses they took in the fall 2025 semester, and they had no incomplete or failing grades.

Burke Pink Ladies’ Annual Dart Tournament a bullseye for cancer support

The Burke Pink Ladies held their Annual Pink Ladies’ Dart Tournament on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Burke Civic Center. They had 22 teams participating in four divisions of pod play and then bracket play. The festivities started at 9 a.m. with a “NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE” recognition ceremony for any survivors or anyone who is currently “Fighting the Fight!” Play began at 10 a.m.

Statement on FDA emergency use authorization for Ivomec

On Feb. 6, 2026,the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for Ivomec (ivermectin) injectable solution to help prevent infestations caused by New World screwworm (NWS).

Three SAL members headed to Washington Conference

Three members of the Gregory Squadron 6 Sons of the American Legion are headed to Washington, DC later this month for the Washington Conference. South Dakota Detachment Commander Wyatt Reis, from Burke, has an automatic invitation to the conference each year.
