Gregory Community Arts Council presents Drinking Habits

The Gregory Community Arts Council is raising a glass to laughter with its fall production of Drinking Habits by Tom Smith. This fast-paced farce blends sharp wit with slapstick humor, proving that a little faith, friendship, and a few bottles of “holy spirits” can turn even the most serious situations into side-splitting comedy. As one cast member put it, secrets, wine, and a little divine chaos are sure to keep the whole town laughing.

Meet one more new school staff member

graduating from Hills Beaver Creek in 2007. After high school she went to college at Minnesota West Community and Technical College and then worked for four years as a med aide in Brookings, SD. She has been a stay-at-home mom for the past nine years. She and her family moved to the area from Brandon, SD, two years ago.

School enrollment relatively steady across the area

A look at enrollment numbers in Gregory County and Colome shows those numbers holding fairly steady (2% drop) across the four area schools surveyed. PK-8 enrollment is stable for Burke, South Central, and Colome with Burke showing no change, South Central down only one, and Colome up by two.

Todd Becker Foundation assembly to be held at Wagner High School

The Todd Becker Foundation, a nationally recognized high school assembly group, announced that they are bringing their presentation, “Hear the Story. Be Moved.” to Wagner High School on September 24, 2025. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the gymnasium. Doors open at 6:40 p.m. with the event starting at 7:00 p.m. CST. The night will feature a live concert from the band “All the Noise”, followed by an impactful and life-changing message from Keith Becker.

Jackley announces run for Congress

Attorney General Marty Jackley officially announced his run for South Dakota’s open Congressional Seat in 2026 on September 9, 2025. “I am humbled by the outpouring of support and encouragement I have received across the state to run for Congress,” said Jackley.

Rosebud Electric Association holds annual meeting

On Monday evening, September 15, 2025, Rosebud Electric Association held their annual meeting at Gregory Memorial Auditorium. With no unfinished business or new business, some of the highlights were the manager’s report, election of directors, and drawing for door prizes.
